Surround yourself with like-minded people

I have learned to create my own pleasing environment by surrounding myself with positive, like-minded people. I have no time to spare for drama and negativity because life is too short to be wasted on such insignificant things. I only desire to live a life overflowing with abundance and peace. I have mastered the art of teaching people how to treat me. There is a subtle, kind and gentle way to command respect.

In life we experience the good and beautiful, the bad and ugly through the different people we meet. Some people you encounter are for a “season, reason, or lifetime.” However, sometimes we try to keep people that do not contribute in our lives – those who are full of anger, grief, and resentment. These people have no idea how to treat good people. While I have created my own environment based on positivity, I also have a clear understanding that these negative people could thrive off my positive energy.

One of the reasons our lives become so complicated is that we entertain people who don’t complement our desires and values. It took me quite a long time to realize that I really don’t need to settle on whoever just happens to be in my life. Instead, I can select the people I want in my life, people of the same wavelength – and that I need to choose cleverly. In fact, all of my friends, clients, and colleagues are people that I like, trust and respect and are in my life because I choose for it to be so.

Categorize people in your life

I have placed the people around me into 4 categories: core, inner circle, outer circle and outer space.

The core people are your closest friends, family, and spouse. These are the people who tell you positive things and won’t hesitate to speak the truth as well. They are the ones who dream with you and give you encouragement even if you feel like giving up. They also celebrate with you during special moments in your life, and at the same time stay with you during tough times. They are available whenever you need them, no matter what time or day it is, just as you are there for them.

I also have an inner circle. I love these people and they are dear to me, but I don’t consider them as my core. They are the people who are ready to support you to a certain extent. Now, do we love them any less? Absolutely not! These people will still be there for you when you need them.

The outer circle consists of a broader group which includes your business associates and other acquaintances. They add less value to your life than the two former groups, but you give more value to their lives and breathe life into it.

Finally you have the outer space. These people should be avoided at all costs, and should not be allowed into your life. You may love the person tremendously, but they are selfish. Within this group you find people who are abusive partners, some who enjoy gossiping and people who are furious friends. Stay away from this group of people because they will bring you a great amount of pain and sorrow, and if your life becomes intertwined with theirs they will forever prevent you from being able to discover the amazing you.
