More often than not we choose to be passive and not act on a situation because we are so afraid to fail and be rejected. We experience this fear in various situations. For instance, when we are assigned to take on a new task or responsibility, we hesitate a lot because if we fail, we might also experience rejection from colleagues, family, friends, and the people around us.
Society’s definition of failure is not the most ideal and effective one to live by. If you study tycoons and other successful people, you can quickly conclude that they have a positive reaction to disappointments or failure, unlike the average individual.
For them, failure or rejection is not a matter as serious as if the world has started to crumble into pieces. They follow the more constructive approach whereby they scrutinize each failure and identify its positive consequences, which is learning from mistakes and improving the next time around. They have no regrets and no hard feelings – just valuable lessons learned.
These people always keep an open mind. They understand that if their first attempt at business fails or is slow – it will begin thriving sooner or later. This is because they learn from their mistakes; they know that tomorrow is another day and are not afraid to try again.
These enthusiastic people believe that the world is packed with kind-hearted people, and there are tons of business opportunities out there waiting to be realized. However, they have also learned that to become successful in any aspect of life, you will experience failure many times. And amidst failure there is that light of hope and inspiration that pushes you forward to strive harder, overcome challenges, and ultimately succeed. Their motto is, “Rome was not built in a day.”
The same attitude should be perfectly applicable here. You have to work out a great deal of sweat to further hone your skills and talents. If you perceive failure or rejection as the end of the road, you will never experience the success that you could otherwise achieve. Doing so will only heighten your fear and its negative impact on your life. Visualize failure simply as feedback on what you need to improve on. Once you have conquered your previous mistakes, success will follow.
